Retrospective 3- Taking the air with Master Basho and Maestro Ravel.

This was an exhibition I had in 2008. I was fortunate enough to receive a grant from the Australia Council for the Arts to complete this project. It was an imaginary twilight walk I took with 17th century Haiku poet Matsuo Basho and 19th century composer Maurice Ravel. This exhibition was at e.g.etal.
I think you could say that the moral of this story is that if you have a solo show you should probably get it photographed by a professional photographer, obviously I didn't. I took these photos myself and didn't realise how bad they were until the show was over. Really disappointing. I've reconciled with it now but it took a long time to get over.

Radiant Being!

Radiant Being! shell, beeswax, crystals, (my hand) 2012

This is work from my Masters. It is part of my Whale piece. It is the stand that holds the mirror which holds the breath of the whale.
I didn't make it with this poem in mind but when I came across it I thought of this image.

To see a World in a Grain of Sand
And a heaven in a Wild Flower,
Hold Infinity in the palm of your hand
And Eternity in an hour.

From Auguries of Innocence by William Blake (1757-1827)
